Better than the aluminum ones

Jay Five on Feb 14th 2026

I typically don't use OEM Glock mags now that the metal Mec Gars are available, but these have brought new life to my OEM mags. I used to purchase the aluminum versions, but those get beat up quite a bit during emergency reloads. The only issue with these is aligning the metal stainless plate properly for the set screw. I have accidentally not lined one up, so the set screw didn't sit flush. I put a little "omph" into it and cracked the polymer above the set screw hole. The extension and mag still functions flawlessly, but it would be better had I just paid more attention installing that particular one. I really don't see the reason spending double for the aluminum ones unless it's a pocket carry back up mag that's never going to hit the ground.
